The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) is the special tactical units of the American police departments charged maintaining order during hostage-taking or mass shootings.
Background
The SWAT was established in 1968 as the Special Weapons and Tactics. The SWAT branches operate in different jurisdictions of the United States, going from Los Angeles (first city where SWAT was established) to Washington D.C. police forces, and intervenes during complicated situations involving one where several dangerous individuals threaten people, especially during dangerous arrests, hostage takings or mass shootings.
Season 1
In Skin, SWAT intervenes when Sam Winchester warns by an anonymous call that a shapeshifter who has taken the form of Dean is going to kill Rebecca Warren. SWAT frees Becky and the fake Dean injures one of the agents before fleeing, being shot by the injured agent's collegue.
Season 2
In The Usual Suspects, a SWAT team moves in to arrest Sam Winchester at a motel in Baltimore.
In Nightshifter, SWAT intervenes when Ronald Reznick takes an entire bank hostage to find a shapeshifter. A SWAT sniper later kill Reznick. FBI agent Victor Henriksen then orders a team to enter the bank to arrest the Winchester. Sam knocks out two of them and takes their clothes to escape the bank.
In Folsom Prison Blues, after Sam and Dean escape from Green River prison, FBI agents Victor Henriksen and Calvin Reidy intervenes with a SWAT team at a cemetery to try to arrest them.
